Cellucor D4 Thermal Shock Review
Cellucor Thermal Shock D4 Weight Loss Reviews
Cellucor makes the popular D4 weight loss supplement. D4 Extreme is the original fat loss supplement, while D4 Thermal Shock is newer, more intense, and has more pronounced effects compared to the original D4 Extreme. It is formulated to be more energy intense, and overall, providing more fat loss and thermogenic effects. The Thermal Shock version of D4 contains a bit more caffeine, and also added Vinpocetine, Yohimbine, and N-acetyl-l-tyrosine.
D4 Thermal Shock claims to:
- Attack deep fat deposits
- Skyrocket caloric burn
- Provide explosive energy
- Suppress appetite
- Improve mental focus
Cellucor D4 thermal Shock does contain stimulants and thermogenic ingredients; therefore, caution is warranted for individuals who are sensitive to stimulants, and especially individuals who have heart conditions or high blood pressure. So does D4 Thermal Shock work, and exactly what are the ingredients contained in this diet pill? Below, we'll review Thermal Shock D4, and if you've used this diet pill, please share your review of it here.

One of the first ingredients listed is Embelic Myrobalan Extract and I would not be surprised if you've never heard of such a name, or seen it in many other weight loss supplements. In fact, "Embelic Myrobalan Extract" is the English name of a plant whose biological name is Emblica Officinalis. The fruit pulp of Emblica officinalis is a very important drug used in Indian medicine, and it is described as a tonic for the heart and brain. It is a rich source of Vitamin C, and has been found to have anti-inflammatory properties.

Below are some well documented beneficial effects of Amla (Embelic Myrobalan). The active ingredient isolated from Embelic Myrobalan is "phyllemblin", which has been found to have significant phamacological actions. One Indian study found that treatment with Emblica Officinalis helped to significantly restore lipid peroxidation status and anti-oxidant enzymes in diabetic rats. [1] Another Indian study fed butter fat and beef fat to albino rats, and then incorporated 5% amla, garlic, or onion to their diets. This study then found that garlic and amla reduced the harmful effects of the fats fed to the rats, and there was better hypolipidemic (reduce concentration of lipid in blood serum) effects. [2]
There are plenty of studies confirming the various health benefits of amla; however, when it comes to weight loss effects of Emblica officinalis, there are limited number of studies, and all of these were done on rats, and not humans. So while some of these studies show some promising results, more studies are still needed to conclusively state the weigt loss effects of Emblica officinalis on human beings.
Yohimbine is another key ingredient in Cellucor D4 Thermal Shock. It is mostly known and used as an aphrodisiac, and also to fight impotence. Despite this, there are some limited scientific evidence that suggests yohimbine to have some weight loss properties. For example, one study with twenty soccer players found that the participants who took yohimbine experienced much greater fat loss compared to the placebo group.
Another Yohimbe study involved 20 obese female participants who were randomized to a yohimbine group or a placebo group. The Yohimbine group consumed 5mg four times per day for 3 weeks. Both groups were on a restricted calorie diet of just 1,000 calories per day. The results of this study found that yohimbine significantly increased the mean weight loss in female participants compared to the placebo group. The yohimbine group lost average 3.55kg versus 2.21kg for the placebo group. [3]
Next up is Evodiamine, which comes from Evodia fruits. There are some limited scientific studies performed on mice that have found it to help with fat loss. In mouse studies, there appears to be some evidence that Evodiamine reduces fat uptake. It seems to work in similar ways as capsaicin from spicy chili peppers. One mice study found Evodiamine to dissipate food energy and reduced the buildup of fat in the body and at the same time, prevented weight gain. However, please keep in mind that all the studies have been done on lab mice, and not on humans.
Cellucor Thermal Shock D4 Side Effects
At a cost of a little over $70 for a one month supply, D4 Thermal Shock certainly is not cheap. Thermal Shock D4 contains caffeine and various other stimulants, and Cellucor had this to say about their fat burner: "D4 Thermal Shock has quickly gained the reputation for being the strongest product in its category. The product is very strong and we recommend only taking half of the dose to test for personal tolerance levels." Whether Thermal Shock D4 truly is the strongest or not is debatable; however, one thing certain is that any fat burner containing stimulants should be used with care, and when starting a cycle, you should always use just half of the recommended dosage to test your tolerance. Some of the side effects of Cellucor Thermal Shock D4 include:
- Increased blood pressure
- Increased heart rate
- Nausea
- Jitteriness
- Headaches and nausea
- Sleeplessness
- Increased irritability
No two people are the same, and everyone will react differently. Some will have no adverse side effects with great results, others will experience some side effects along with weight loss results, while there may be others who experience no weight loss benefits.
