PowerBar Review and Comparison

Power Bar energy bars are very popular, and widely used by all types of individuals and athletes. It comes in several varieties, serving different needs. There are:

Power Bar - the original: This is the original energy bar, designer to provide a good boost of energy, with each bar giving 45g of carbs and 10g of protein.

PowerBar Protein Plus: Unlike the original, this bar comes with much higher protein content at 24g of protein and 38g of carbs per bar.

Power Bar Harvest: This is a much more nutrition oriented bar. Each bar gives 45g carbs, 7g protein, and it also comes with a host of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber.

Depending on what you're looking for, there's a power bar to meet your needs. I've tried a few flavors of each type, and you can see them compared below.

PowerBar Original Taste Test

Powerbar energy bars come in a variety of flavors, more than most other brands of protein bars. They come in: peanut butter, chocolate, apple cinnamon, banana, chocolate peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, mocha chip and wild berry. I've tried the oatmeal raisin and chocolate flavors, and they both tasted great.

This is a very 'flexible" bar, in that it's very chewy and soft. It has a nice soft outter coating, and a slightly crunch and chewy inner filling. Very nice tasting.

Overall, I'd give them a 8.5 on a scale of 10. These energy bars have a nice moisture, and chewiness, and aren't too powdery or dry.

Power Bar Harvest Taste Test

I enjoyed the powerbar harvest. They come in several flavors: apple crisp, cherry crunch, chocolate, PB chocolate, and strawberry. It was a nice tasting nutrition bar, but for me, it was a little on the sweet side. Its slightly crunchy, and not too dry with a nice cheekiness. Overall, I'd give it a 8 out of 10.

PowerBar Protein Plus Taste Test

I've tried 2 flavors of protein plus bars: peanut butter chocolate, and cookies and cream. Both taste great! They also have other flavors like brownie and vanilla, but I haven't gotten around to trying them yet, but if the 2 I tried are any indication of great taste, I'm sure all the other flavors will taste great as well.

For me, power bar protein plus was the best - partly for its higher protein content for my needs, and it also tasted great. For the protein plus, I enjoyed the peanut butter chocloate flavor slightly more than the cookies and cream flavor. For those who need a protein bar high in protein, then power bar protein plus is a good choice.

For those who seek energy bars, then the original power bar is a good choice, and for those looking for a nutrition bar, then the powerbar harvest makes an excellet choice with its many vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber.
