Standing Calf Raise Exercise
Standing Calf Raise Technique & Execution
- Stand on the bottom platform with your toes and your heels extended beyond the edge
- Place your shoulders under the padded supports and then straighten your legs
- Lower your heels as low as possible feeling the stretch in your calf muscles
- From the bottom, push yourself back up as high as possible
Seated Calf Raise Exercise

- Sit on the seated calf raise machine with your knees under the crossbar and toes planted on the bottom platform
- Lower your heels as far down as possible, feeling the stretch in the calf muscles
- Press back up on your toes as high as possible then lower back down to starting position
Leg Press Machine Calf Raises
Calf Raises Technique & Execution
- Position yourself on the leg press machine as you would when performing a leg press
- Instead of placing your entire foot on the foot pad, only place your toes leaving your heel unsupported
- Press the weight up with your leg almost straight (only slightly bent)
- Let your toes come down as you feel the stretch in your calfs
- Then press the weight up as high as you can using only your calves
- Make sure the safety bars are in place in case your toes slip

- Position yourself facing down toward the back support with the shoulder rests placed across your shoulders
- Position your feet on the platform so that your heels are extended beyond the edge
- Keeping your legs straight, lower yourself and feel the stretch in your calf muscles
- At the bottom, push yourself up as high as you can go
